DRESDEN, Germany - July 8, 2015 - With the growing demand for new technologies to increase efficiency of power semiconductors, the Power Electronics Conference at SEMICON Europa 2015 (6 to 8 October 2015) in Dresden, Germany, tracks trends and innovations. More than 400 exhibitors and over 6,000 global visitors are expected to attend the event. With new themes and formats, SEMICON Europa 2015 supports today’s semiconductor industry in Europe. Power electronics are an interdisciplinary technology for diverse market applications and the Power Electronics Conference at SEMICON Europa provides a critically needed collaboration and learning platform for the industry. The Power Electronics Conference will cover:
- Keynote: Arnost Kopta from ABB on “High-Voltage Silicon-based Devices for Energy-Efficient Power Distribution and Consumption."
- GaN as an Alternative to Silicon: with speakers from Veeco Instruments and NaMLab GmbH
- Usage of Power Electronics in Everyday Life: with speakers from Fronius, Infineon Technologies, SGS Institute Fresenius, and STMicro, and University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden.
- High Power Applications: with speakers from Aalborg University, CEA, Cree, Fraunhofer Institute, and Techchnische Universitat Dresden
- Material Evolution: with speakers from CALYTechnologies, Infineon, Topsil Semiconductor Materials, and Yole Developpement
"Power electronics is increasingly the enabler of next-generation applications that require high-efficiency and precise power conversion," Henry Gueldner explained, professor emeritus at TU Dresden and member of the conference committee. Depending on the application, power semiconductors are part of discrete individual components, modules or complete assemblies. "Power electronics plays a key role in many areas - from high-power inverters for PV systems to power supplies for computers and automotive electronics," emphasized Gueldner. SEMICON Europa 2015 will focus on materials and equipment for the semiconductor industry, and this year includes a number of additional topics, such as Imaging, Low Power, Chip Design and Packaging, and new conference modules for Automotive, MedTech and Industrie 4.0. SEMICON Europa 2015 is co-located with Plastic Electronics 2015, a key conference and exhibition in the field of flexible, large-scale and organic electronics. Overall, SEMICON Europa 2015 includes more than 40 conferences and discussions. With a special partner and delegation program, SEMICON Europa has expanded both its exhibition and attendee base to strategic countries, such as Hungary, Romania, Poland and the Slovak and the Czech Republic. To make experts from Eastern Europe aware of SEMICON Europa, SEMI is cooperating with 20 institutions and associations including the Asociace Vyzkumnych organizací (AVO), the Czech Association of research organization in the field of applied research.
