OneTree Microdevices Announces New Portfolio of High Performance DOCSIS™ 3.1 Compliant CATV Broadband Amplifiers

Enabling Cable Operators to Bring Gigabit Speeds to the Home

SANTA ROSA, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 8, 2015 — OneTree Microdevices, Inc., today announced the first in a series of high performance DOCSIS™ 3.1 (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) compliant semiconductor amplifier solutions that allow CATV operators to efficiently leverage existing capital expense as they rollout new bandwidth-intensive services. This announcement came in conjunction with the ANGA COM trade show in Cologne, Germany.

High performance signal amplifiers are required to enable cable TV providers to upgrade fiber/coax networks to handle growing demand for high capacity video transmission to the home. OneTree is developing a unique portfolio of broadband amplifiers that can be installed in existing CATV networks without costly overhauls.

OneTree is now sampling the OTM3228, a QFN 7x7 48L plastic package, with volume production scheduled for late Q3 2015. “Our OTM3228 is designed for a wide range of applications serving unique requirements in China as well as in the U.S. and Europe,” said Chris Day, Chairman and CTO. “OneTree’s OTM3228 delivers GaN-level output performance while providing higher gain, simplifying the design and lowering component costs in hybrid fiber/coax nodes.”

The OTM3228 is a 24V MMIC that can be incorporated into LED driver solutions ranging from 350mA to 470mA and operates up to 1.2GHz. The OTM2980D CATV Hybrid Power Doubler, based on the OTM3228 Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC), offers up to 32 dB gain to 1.2GHz.

The OTM3200 Series Semiconductors are the building blocks of a high performance portfolio of CATV Hybrid Amplifiers: the OTM2900 Series High Output Power Doublers and OTM2800 Series Push-Pull Amplifiers are offered in the familiar SOT115J package.
