Altair PBS Works™ Named ‘Best HPC Software or Technology’

Recipient of 2014 Annual HPCwire Readers’ Choice Award

Nov 21, 2014 -- Altair’s PBS Works™ suite has been recognized as “Best HPC Software or Technology” in the annual HPCwire Readers’ Choice Awards, presented at the 2014 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis (SC14), in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The list of winners was revealed at the HPCwire booth at SC14 and on the HPCwire website located at www.HPCwire.com.

“We are incredibly honored that HPCwire readers have chosen PBS Works as the number one HPC software product,” said Jim Scapa, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Altair. “Altair strives to provide the best available technology to simplify HPC and make it more accessible for users. This award signals our success in creating a comprehensive offering that users recognize is critical to effective high performance computing.”

The PBS Works suite of HPC workload management and cloud enablement products allows enterprises to maximize ROI on existing hardware and software resources. Engineered for seamless implementation and usage, the PBS Works suite includes:

  • PBS Professional®, Altair’s market-leading HPC workload manager and job scheduler
  • Compute Manager, a web-based portal for simplified job submission and management
  • Display Manager, a web-based portal for remote visualization of data and applications
  • PBS Analytics, an easy to use job accounting and reporting product

“There’s a lot of excellent HPC software available, so for PBS Works to be chosen as the best is a real honor,” said Bill Nitzberg, Chief Technology Officer for PBS Works at Altair. “Delivering a comprehensive suite of tools has really made the difference: making HPC simpler and faster for end-users and making HPC more efficient and resilient for administrators. Thank you HPCwire readers!”

The coveted annual HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Awards are determined through a nomination and voting process with the global HPCwire community, along with a selection process in which the editors of HPCwire make selections. The awards are an annual feature of the publication and constitute prestigious recognition from the HPC community. These awards are revealed each year to kick off the annual supercomputing conference, which showcases high performance computing, networking, storage, and data analysis.

"HPCwire readers are among the most informed in the HPC community and these awards are ultimately given to the organizations that are making the biggest impacts in advancing technology and humanity itself through high performance computing,” said Tom Tabor, CEO of Tabor Communications, publisher of HPCwire.  "The HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Awards send a strong message of support and appreciation from those in the global HPC community. We are proud to be able to recognize these efforts each year and our congratulations go out to all the winners.”

More information on these awards can be found at the HPCwire website or on Twitter through the following hashtag: #HPCwireAwards.
