Global Distributor to Sponsor China Racing Team and Ho-Pin Tung in All-Electric Racecar
DALLAS & FORT WORTH, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 9, 2014 — Mouser Electronics, Inc., a leading global distributor of semiconductors and electronic components, today announced its sponsorship of the China Racing Formula-E Team. The team will compete in the international 2014/15 Formula E racing series, built around all-electric cars, starting September 13 in Beijing.

Formula E is a new FIA global racing series featuring cars powered exclusively by electric energy. The FIA stands for the Federation International de LAutomobile, which is the governing body for world motor sports. Formula E represents a vision for the future of the motor sports industry over the coming decades, serving as a framework for R&D around the electric vehicle, accelerating general interest in these cars and promoting sustainability, a Team China spokesman said.
Team China Racing is the first national racing team authorized by the Ministry of Sports of China. Team China has participated in several international racing series and represents Chinas highest motorsport level. Chinese racing sensation Ho-Pin Tung, a veteran of the international auto racing circuit, will be driving the Mouser-sponsored Spark-Renault SRT_01E which can go 0-60 in 3 seconds and has a top speed of 150 mph. He will be the only local Chinese driver in the season opener in Beijing.
