SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 2, 2013 — (PRNewswire) — Atmel® Corporation (NASDAQ: ATML), a leader in microcontroller and touch technology solutions, today announced that Atmel's maXTouch® mXT540S controller is powering the 5-inch touchscreen for the recently launched full high-definition (HD) Mi3 smartphone from Xiaomi, a leading provider of smartphones, apps, and consumer electronics who has taken the China market by storm.

Powered by Atmel's maXTouch mXT540S, Xiaomi's full HD Mi3 smartphone delivers superior touch performance with a very sensitive touch panel offering the fastest report rate in the industry, a crucial feature for capturing precise touches including handwriting and signature capture with a fingernail. With an industry-leading signal-to-noise ratio, the mXT540S offers noise suppression for environments with aftermarket noisy chargers, along with longer battery life.
