6 Professional Designers Win the ZW3D Model Challenge on GrabCAD

Guangzhou, China: May, 18, 2012 – ZWSOFT, the leading supplier of 2D & 3D CAD/CAM solutions to the AEC and MCAD industries, today rolled out the long-awaited results of the ZW3D CAD Model Challenge on GrabCAD. Six winners stole the spotlight in this challenge and brought home cash and prizes worth a total of $2400.

The 3D CAD Model Challenge was officially kicked off on April 5, 2012 at GrabCAD.com, which is a renowned 3D model sharing platform for mechanical engineers and CAD users. The contest lasted for one month, collecting a total of 49 entries submitted by 31 participants. All the participants showed great skill and talent when modeling with ZW3D CAD/CAM. So much so that the jury, consisting of a GrabCAD engineer and technical staff from ZW3D, wanted to give prizes to all of the participants, but alas there could only be 6 winners.

The standard for selecting the winning entries mainly focused on the manufacturability and modeling skills reflected in the drawings. All of the six winners did this when integrating their design concept with the powerful 3D drafting functionalities in ZW3D.

“This is the first time I’ve ever used ZW3D software and it wasn’t very hard for me to learn many things quickly and effectively with the friendly user interface of it,” said Mohomed Nusry, the first prize winner, a mechanical engineer trainee from Sri Lanka. “I’ve tried different CAD tools and techniques in the software to make many different models. It was great learning and interesting task to work in software like ZW3D which has many engineering tools bundled together. I hope that this learning and this winning will be very helpful for my future career.”

Piotr Sieńko, the 2nd place winner from Poland, commented on the challenge and the ZW3D software: “The competition is a great idea, allowing of many users to learn the ZW3D software. It is an occasion to exchange experiences and fun. ZW3D is very interesting software that helps users play their potential to the fullest, especially the new mold module in ZW3D 2012.”
