
Dr. Hau-Yung Chen

Dr. Hau-Yung Chen, co-founded Silicon Canvas Inc. in 2001. He received his Ph.D degree in 1988 from U. Illinois at Urbana Champaign. From 1988 to 1993, he worked at TI as a member of technical staff; his first two years were spent developing a unified design automation system in LISP, he then applied that system to design a MPEG1 chip over the next two years. He worked at Motorola, Austin in 1993 and developed a memory compiler for their multimedia project. From 1993 to 1995, he worked at Hitachi Micro Systems developing a datapath placement engine. He co-founded Arcadia Design Systems in 1995 and continued to work on the datapath product called Mustang. From 1998 to 2001, he led a design team at NJR (New Japan Radio) designing a DVD chip. Dr. Chen holds two USA patents, one is in the area of the datapath placement, and the other is in the area of DVD architecture.
