More and more organizations are realizing that a multi-dimensional approach to data
security is required. This applies as much to security product vendors as it does to the users
of security products and systems. With the increase in attacks from the “inside”
and the increasingly diverse security requirements of organizations, solutions at the
application level as well as the use of encryption at the communications level,
predominately at the link layer or the network layer (respectively, layer 2 or 3
of the OSI model), need to be considered.
