This brief paper examines the important differences between the responses of FFT and Polyphase DFT filter banks. In general, whilst the Polyphase DFT (or, indeed, any filter bank, such as the PFT) has much better adjacent channel rejection in a steady-state condition, the transient response can actually be worse.
