The quality of results (QoR) and productivity shortfall statistics of functional verification by conventional simulation methodologies are well known: verification consumes 50% to 70% of design effort and design teams are spending more on verification tools than ever. Yet nearly 40% of designs require a respin and 20% require two respins – and the primary cause is functional error. The questions are, then, why are these verification problems so intractable, and how can hybrid simulation solve them?
