Last year, I presented a paper entitled “Eye Patterns in Scopes”. That paper covered many topics related to serial data characteristics, mainly bit-rate and rise-time and oscilloscope characteristics such as bandwidth, roll-off rate, flatness, phase response, etc. The paper explained how the characteristics interact to determine what you see on your scope screen when measuring eyepatterns.
