As wireless networks evolve, network equipment providers are repeatedly presented with the challenge of how to bridge TDM/ATM and IP networks cost-effectively. In this case study, we’ll explore two ways to plug IP-based equipment into a TDM/ATM network and compare their respective approaches, one of which is the conventional, widely-used switch or gateway; and the other, a gateway on a card, which takes advantage of the new open standards platforms.
