ProLiant servers based on AMD's Opteron process are available today! The ProLiant DL145 comes with one or two Opteron 200 series processors running at 1.6, 1.8, or 2.2 GHz. The series processors running at 1.6, 1.8, or 2.2 GHz. Later this year, the four-processor DL585 will be available, which can support up to 64 GB of memory. x86-based servers are not new, but what is new is that these Opteron-based servers from HP and other vendors now support 64-bit x86 computing.
