Featured Paper by Ronald Kalim, David John, Sridhar Panchapakesan , Liang Xu MilkyWay technology file and GDS layer map are the two main infrastructures for Astro. Traditional method of manual generation requires an experienced resource and extensive QA to ensure correctness and completeness. Guaranteeing that MilkyWay IP views can be shared across different derivative technology flows is another challenge. We respond to this challenge by developing an automatic and integrated flow to generate a MilkyWay technology file and a GDS layer map in Cypress Semiconductor cadflow. This paper addresses the methodology as well as the steps required to implement the flow to support Cypress internal and external foundries. Additionally, it discusses how this integrated flow shares its advanced design rules with physical verification back-end flow and benefits IP view sharing by having consistent MilkyWay layer numbers.
