Unlike competitive devices, the ISL8502 features external synchronization capability with master/slave configuration to enable the user to synchronize up to four ICs out of phase and significantly reduce EMI (electromagnetic interference) in the design while also providing multiple outputs from the same input rail. The device's adjustable switching frequency range of 500kHz to 1.2MHz ensures high efficiency and a smaller number of external BOM components. The external compensation provides additional flexibility and enables various choices of passive devices.
Target applications for the ISL8502 include point-of-load applications, set-top boxes, ADSL modems, switches, routers, graphics cards, FPGA power, ASICs and memory power supplies.
