Oasis Semiconductor Announces DigiColor(R)2040; Chip Is Main Controller In Multifunction Facsimiles from Major Consumer Electronics Manufacturer; Fabless designer's embedded product allows product to print, photo-print, fax, copy, and scan

WALTHAM, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Aug. 15, 2005— Oasis Semiconductor, Inc., the world's largest merchant provider of semiconductor-based solutions to the All-In-One (AIO) peripheral market, today announced that its cutting-edge DigiColor(R)2040 chip is the main system controller for the new Sharp UX-MF10CL and AI-M1000 Multifunction Facsimiles.

In leading the AIO revolution as a fabless designer of system controllers, Oasis develops chips that provide the core system control functionality within an AIO. Oasis's AIO controller solutions - consisting of its chips, hardware reference design, firmware development kits, and PC software drivers - provide substantially all of an AIO's electronic processing functionality, including image capture and processing, motor control, print engine control, and connectivity with personal computers and other peripherals.

For the Sharp units, this means the Oasis system-on-a-chip is controlling the unit's key functions, which include printing, photo-printing, faxing, copying, and scanning. The output includes all types of printed photos or text documents, be it in color or black & white, as well as images read from memory cards, processed, and displayed on a color LCD screen.

The flatbed-system product, currently selling in the Japanese market, also features a direct print photo memory card slot, a view-before-printing function for faxes, and print speeds of 18 ppm in color and 23 ppm in monochrome.

"We are pleased that our world-class AIO controller is such an integral component of these innovative Sharp units," said John Koger, president and CEO of Oasis. "Our controller solutions continue to deliver a fast and programmable imaging platform that is rich with features but low on cost."

Koger continued, "In this highly competitive space, the differentiator can often be a single feature such as the richest user interface, that includes a five-inch LCD. We highly value our relationship with a brand-name company such as Sharp, and are particularly pleased to make such a significant impact on this product."
