TrafficLand Delivers Live Video from 6,000 traffic cameras nationwide to public safety geospatial data fusion applications

New service will help public safety agencies realize National Preparedness Goals

March 18, 2009 -- TrafficLand, Inc., based in Fairfax, VA, announced, today, that it is providing XML Feeds containing live streaming video and geospatial metadata from its national traffic camera network for integration into Crisis Information Management systems used by public safety agencies and emergency first responders.

TrafficLand is the single source for access to nearly 6,000 live traffic cameras nationwide utilizing its patent-pending technology to make the video available in a cost-effective, low bandwidth format from a tier 4 fault tolerant data center. While the fortified service is designed to meet high demand traffic loads typically seen during emergency incidents and major events this network access provides assistance for state and local first responders on a daily basis. The real-time video data layer from TrafficLand’s national traffic camera network can be integrated into virtually any Global information System (GIS), common operational picture, or mobile application.

“We are pleased to make this critical eyes-on-the-ground, live video content available for integration as a layer in these very important public safety systems,” said TrafficLand CEO Lawrence Nelson. “TrafficLand has been providing live video applications to federal, state and local first responders for more than 6 years, and they’ve frequently told us it dramatically improves overall situational awareness and incident response.”
