SPICE Explorer 2003.1 includes major customer enhancements
LOS ALTOS, Calif. - February 25, 2003 - Sandwork Design, Inc. announced today enhancements to its industry-leading SPICE Explorer. Release 2003.1 adds 64 bit capabilities, allowing designers to deploy Solaris, Linux and HPUX 64 bit platforms for large full chip SPICE-type simulation results viewing, while providing ultra fast loading speed.
Sandwork's proprietary Waveform Data Format (WDF-I) has evolved into second generation WDF-II, with numerous enhancements addressing the increasing challenges of analog and digital simulation output requirements of Mixed-Signal designs. Existing waveform formats tend to be superior in either analog or digital simulation support, but seldom both. WDF-II is designed to address equally the file size issues for both large analog and digital circuit simulations. Of further importance is the WDF-II capability for 64 bit data in order to surpass the 2 Gigabytes file size limitations. As high capacity transistor level circuit simulators proliferate, result-file size becomes a reoccurring issue for both viewing and storing. SPICE Explorer Release 2003.1, while backward compatible to WDF-I, has been speedup to boost loading performance of large waveform data files.
"We searched for a single waveform file system that would serve all of our customer needs, from SPICE-type simulations to Verilog-type analysis achieving an optimum compression with maximum level of loading performance. With over 200 seats of SPICE Explorer world wide, Sandwork has been listening to its customer base and release 2003.1 is the culmination of implementations for the last two quarters, resulting in the following developments:
- Application Programming Extensions (APX) -- A Tcl/Perl driven scripting language for either user defined measurements or batch mode waveform file regressions.
- Dynamic Meter enhancements -- New abilities to automatically measure duty cycles - including width and frequency, of digital waveforms supplementing existing analog offerings. Multiple-supply designs can have signals difference/delta in time automatically traced to user specified independent supply levels. Rise time/Fall time is now measured either in percentage or absolute values. New Frequency versus Time plot can be generated for PLL waveforms both through APX and dynamic meter.
- Eye-Diagram measurements -- Through Dynamic Meter, the jitter and fuzz width can now be easily measured in one step.
- Multiple-bits AD and DA Conversions -- D to A conversions can be glitch-filtered to remove spurious non-simultaneous switching. Multiple-bits A to D conversion now can be 'fixed-rate' time sampled for synchronous design verifications.
- FFT Windowing functions -- Post simulation FFT analysis is provided with windowing functions including Rectangle, Bartlett, Parzen, Welch, Hamming, Blackman, Blackman-Harris, Gaussian and Kaiser-Bessel.
