Mentor's VStation hardware verification platform and the iSolve(TM) speed adapters were used to test and verify GiQuilas first generation multimedia processor. The company required thorough testing due to aggressive staffing resources and schedules. This integrated solution provides real-world testing of complex system designs prior to silicon, enabling the rapid development and verification of complex system on chips (SoCs), mandatory for today's multimedia, networking and consumer electronics design applications.
The GiQuila chip underwent testing using the iSolve and PCI Express speed adapters linked to the VStation emulation system. Using the Mentor hardware accelerated verification platform, GiQuila was able to bring up their complex chip design and run real-life conformance test suites and applications before tapeout. The current emulation solution not only increased the verification quality of the actual design, but it allowed the software team to get a head start on driver development. The VStation emulation platform allowed GiQuila to get first-time working silicon and to accelerate the bring-up schedule by several months.
