ClioSoft to Demonstrate SOS Design Data Management Platform at CDN LIVE Silicon Valley 2015

Genia Technologies to present on IC design data management for DNA sequencing

FREMONT, Calif., March 6, 2015 – ClioSoft, Inc., a leader in system-on-chip (SoC) design data and intellectual property (IP) management solutions for the semiconductor design industry, will showcase its SOS design management platform at CDN Live Silicon Valley on March 10-11, 2015. To enable designers dispersed across multiple design centers to increase productivity and efficiency in their complex design flows, SOS is integrated with tools from various EDA vendors to provide a cohesive design environment for all types of digital, analog, RF and mixed-signal designs. EDA providers include, among others, Cadence Design Systems®, Keysight Technologies, Mentor Graphics and Synopsys.

The SOS design management platform is tightly coupled with the Cadence® Virtuoso® platform to empower design engineers to manage design data directly from the Virtuoso cockpit.  In addition to the SOS design management platform, ClioSoft will also demonstrate the Visual Design Diff software, which displays design differences in schematics, layout and RTL. This is particularly useful in ECO flows to track the changes made between different versions of the same design on which different design engineers are working.

In addition, Genia Technologies, now part of Roche Molecular Systems, and a customer of ClioSoft Inc, will present on integrated circuit (IC) design data management for DNA sequencing on March 11th.

DESIGNER EXPO:

The SOS platform from ClioSoft provides SoC design data and IP management to streamline the design process. SOS facilitates multi-site design collaboration and includes, among other features, integrated revision control, release and derivative management and interface to commonly-used bug tracking systems. At the Expo, ClioSoft will showcase how the tight integration of ClioSoft’s SOS with the Cadence Virtuoso design flow improves design team productivity by providing data management and tool features from the same cockpit. This helps reduce the possibility of design re-spins due to incorrect configurations.

Visual Design Diff (VDD) from ClioSoft gives users the power to quickly compare two versions of a schematic or layout by graphically highlighting the differences directly in their own design editors. A hierarchical diff option allows all differences for the entire design hierarchy below the selected view to be flagged.

PRESENTING:

Session Title: Integrated Circuit Design Data Management for DNA Sequencing

Session Abstract:

DNA sequencing is the process of determining the precise order of nucleotides (building blocks of DNA) within a DNA molecule. Once genes are identified and analyzed from the sequence information, the information can be used for disease diagnosis and to provide healthcare on the basis of the patient's unique DNA sequence.

For DNA sequencing, preparing the samples and obtaining the data for analysis is expensive and time consuming. To see the DNA, companies have been using a combination of expensive chemicals such as fluorophores or other probes to recognize the sequence. In order to reduce the cost of DNA sequencing, companies have started to adopt techniques such as amplification or using a better detector. However, this has not been a big success.

With the objective of providing affordable DNA sequencing, Genia uses a blend of different DNA sequencing techniques coupled with semiconductor technology to enable massively parallel DNA sequencing, bringing the benefits of genome sequencing out of the lab and into the everyday world.

This presentation will provide an overview of DNA sequencing and the problems of using conventional methods of sequencing. The presenter will then elaborate briefly on Genia’s proprietary DNA replication enzyme sequencing developed in collaboration with Columbia and Harvard University, as well the flow adopted to create their analog SoCs using Cadence Virtuoso® Technology and ClioSoft’s SOS design data management to provide a platform that is ideal for sequencing single DNA molecules.

Speaker: Hui Tian, Vice President, Genia Technologies (now part of Roche Molecular Systems)
